Pastor Samuel Jeske

Hi! My name is Sam Jeske. I’m privileged to serve as Our Shepherd’s pastor!

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I began my pastoral training in 2009 at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, graduating in 2013 with my bachelor’s degree in biblical languages and pre-seminary studies.

I am a missionary at heart - and thrive in a Christian community that takes 1 Corinthians 9:22 and the Great Commission seriously. After graduating from Martin Luther College, I moved to Asia to serve as a Christian missionary for two years. While in Asia, I had the opportunity to travel to China, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines. My time serving as a missionary in Asia was easily the most formative ministry experience of my life.

I returned to America in 2015 to begin my Masters of Divinity program at the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. I did my one-year residency (vicar) program at Faith Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg, GA - a suburb of Atlanta. In spring of 2019, I received his Masters of Divinity and my first pastoral assignment to Our Shepherd here in Crown Point.

I, my wife Tracie, and our sons Elijah and Jonah have enjoyed calling NWI our home.

I love meeting new people, traveling, bookbinding, reading, going to concerts, studying Chinese, watching movies and tv shows, and engaging in deep conversations. I am also a glutton for board games like Zombicide, Call to Adventure, and The Thing. I’m also a bit of a multi-instrumentalist; I love music and using music to enrich worship in our church.

In addition to serving as Our Shepherd’s pastor, I currently serve as the Content Moderator for the Institute of Lutheran Apologetics and a contributor for Engaging Christianity. I am a regular writer for the Transformed Teen Devotion Series since 2019. I also co-host a podcast called Graveyard Shift Gospel, and write for our church’s blog called Quiet Waters.

I’m passionate about evangelism and outreach - engaging the communities of the Region with the good news of Jesus and sharing the peace and joy we have forever in him.
